Some stories remind us exactly why investing in young people matters.

Sarah’s story is one of them.

As a participant in the Climate Innovation & Entrepreneurship Training at EKMA, Sarah arrived ready to learn. What she left with, however, was much more than knowledge. She left with an idea, a vision, and the confidence to turn that vision into something real.

Throughout the training, participants explored climate challenges facing our communities and discovered how entrepreneurship can be used to create practical, sustainable solutions. They learned tools for problem-solving, innovation, and business development, including the Business Model Canvas (BMC), a framework that helps entrepreneurs transform ideas into viable businesses.

For Sarah, the BMC was a game changer.

Using the framework, she developed an idea for an organic fertilizer business—an enterprise that addresses environmental challenges while creating economic opportunities. It was a powerful moment of realization that business can be about more than making money; it can also be about solving problems and creating positive impact.

Her idea demonstrated how climate innovation and entrepreneurship can work hand in hand. By promoting sustainable agricultural practices through organic fertilizer, Sarah identified a way to support farmers, reduce environmental harm, and generate income at the same time.

What makes her story remarkable is not just the business idea itself, but the shift in mindset behind it. Sarah began to see opportunities where others might see challenges. She realized that innovation doesn’t always require large amounts of capital or sophisticated technology. Sometimes, it starts with understanding a problem and having the right tools to develop a solution.

That is what the Climate Innovation & Entrepreneurship Training seeks to achieve: empowering young people to become problem-solvers, innovators, and change-makers in their communities.

Sarah’s journey is a reminder that when young people are equipped with knowledge, mentorship, and practical tools, they can create solutions that benefit both people and the planet.

What started as a training program became a life-changing opportunity—one that transformed a learner into an aspiring green entrepreneur.

And for Sarah, this is only the beginning.
