Meet Mary Pieterson, a 47-year-old mother of 4 and grandmother of 1, who runs a cold store in Ntankoful, a community in Sekondi-Takoradi.
Mary’s biggest barrier was lack of storage—she needed a large freezer to stock enough fish and meat to meet community demand. Through the Duapa Community Co-operative, Mary has now received an 800-liter Deep Freezer—with the flexibility of a 12-month payment schedule that makes it accessible and sustainable.

The result?
1. Increased stock capacity
2. More sales and stable income for Mary’s household
3. Better access to fresh food for her community
Mary’s story is just one example of how community-driven financing and cooperative models can transform livelihoods.
At Duapa Werkspace, our goal is to replicate this impact across Sekondi-Takoradi and beyond, empowering hundreds of grassroots entrepreneurs with the tools, equipment, and resources they need to succeed.
Join us in scaling this model. Together, we can build a resilient, inclusive economy where hardworking entrepreneurs like Mary don’t just survive—they thrive.
