Some moments during a training program remind you that real impact is happening right in front of you.

One such moment took place during the Climate Innovation & Entrepreneurship Training at Agona Nkwanta, when participants presented their business ideas using the Business Model Canvas (BMC).

What stood out was not just the quality of the presentations, but the way participants were thinking about the challenges around them.

Throughout the program, participants had been encouraged to identify climate-related problems affecting their communities and explore how innovation and entrepreneurship could help address them. During the presentation session, they demonstrated just how much they had absorbed.

One after another, participants shared ideas aimed at tackling real environmental and climate challenges. They carefully explained the problems they had identified, the people most affected, and the solutions they believed could create meaningful change. More importantly, they showed an understanding of how those solutions could be transformed into sustainable ventures capable of creating both environmental and economic value.

The Business Model Canvas provided a framework for turning ideas into structured opportunities, but the real achievement was the shift in mindset that was taking place.

Participants were no longer looking at challenges as obstacles. They were beginning to see them as opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and impact.

As each presentation unfolded, it became clear that this was about much more than completing an assignment or delivering a pitch. It was about building confidence, developing problem-solving skills, and helping individuals recognize their ability to create solutions within their own communities.

The atmosphere in the room reflected a sense of possibility. Discussions were thoughtful, ideas were practical, and participants showed a genuine commitment to addressing issues that matter to the people around them.

What made the session particularly inspiring was seeing how local challenges were being approached with local knowledge and creativity. The ideas presented were rooted in the realities of the communities participants come from, making them both relevant and potentially transformative.

By the end of the session, it felt less like a presentation exercise and more like the beginning of something bigger.

It was a glimpse into a future where young people are equipped not only to understand climate challenges but also to build solutions that create lasting impact.

At the Africa Climate Collaborative at the University of Ghana, we believe that empowering people with the right tools, knowledge, and entrepreneurial mindset can unlock remarkable potential. The presentations at Agona Nkwanta were a powerful reminder of what becomes possible when individuals are given the opportunity to learn, innovate, and lead.

The ideas may have started on a canvas, but their impact could extend far beyond the classroom.
